Nuriootpa High School were once again successful at the annual Balaklava Eisteddfod, this year bringing home a first and second placing, plus a champion title.

Established in 1997, the Balaklava Eisteddford is an annual performing arts event which attracts entries from a range of Government and independent schools across South Australia.

Last year Mr Chris Yeend’s Nuriootpa High School senior ‘B’ percussion ensemble achieved second place while Ms Sonia Samian’s senior ‘A’ woodwind ensemble received an honourable mention in the competition.

In 2026 the Nuriootpa High School percussion and woodwind ensembles were back and better than ever, with Mr Yeend’s percussion ensemble taking the coveted first place in the senior ‘B’ section and the overall section champion titled, while Ms Samain’s woodwind ensemble took out second place in the senior ‘A’ section.
