Nuriootpa High School instrumental music students recently took their tunes on tour, performing for and with schools across the Eyre Peninsula region.

The tour kicked-off with a performance at Hincks Avenue Primary School, Whyalla, before continuing the journey to the beach-side ‘Thuruna’ campsite at Tumby Bay.

Supported by classroom music teachers Mr Noah Tilley and Ms Alison Marton, alongside instrumental teachers Ms Sonia Samain, Mr Chris Yeend and Mr Jacob Staher, across the week students performed at Port Lincoln Primary School, Tumby Bay Area School and Kirton Point Primary School.

The highlight of the tour, however, was the opportunity to collaborate with peers from Port Lincoln High School and Port Lincoln Primary School, culminating in an evening community performance at town’s popular Jump Ship Brewing venue.

The gig and associated rehearsals provided both students and teachers the opportunity to expand their musical practice and forge new friendships. The performance venue also provided students with valuable experience in performing outside of a school setting, offering a glimpse of gigging at a semi-professional level.

Thank you to each of the students for positively representing Nuriootpa High School and making the most of the opportunities while on tour, to the music faculty staff for their organisation and mentorship, and the host schools for their warm welcome.
