Nuriootpa High School was honoured to welcome Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia, for a special visit on Monday 24 August (Week 6).

Greeted by Student Representative Council (SRC) President Madi B and Public Relations Officer Jayde D, alongside Principal Mr David Marino and Deputy Principal Ms Adla Mattiske, Her Excellency was then officially welcomed by the award-winning Nuriootpa High School Percussion Ensemble, led by Mr Chris Yeend.

Members of the SRC engaged in a Q&A session with Her Excellency, asking thoughtful questions about her career, responsibilities of her role as Governor of South Australia, and her insights on issues relevant to young people today.

The discussion also explored the notion of what it means to be a leader, not only through the lens of ‘official’ appointment, but in the day-to-day actions which make a difference, with Her Excellency’s pertinent advice to students to embrace opportunity, use their voice and be their authentic-self, sure to be a lasting anchor.

Hosting Her Excellency for the afternoon was such a privilege. Both students and staff extend their gratitude to Her Excellency for sharing her time and insights with our community.
