Nuriootpa High School students are getting set for study success in 2027 as they begin the process of selecting their subjects for next year.

At secondary school subject selection is an important aspect of planning for and shaping future pathways for post-school study and/or employment. It is, therefore, vital that students take the time to carefully consider their selections and ask themselves:

• What are my strengths?
• What are my aspirations beyond school?
• Do I like this subject?
• Is this subject relevant to my future plans?
• Will the combination of subjects keep my future options open?

Year level leaders, faculty coordinators and home group teachers work with students to support considered and well-informed decisions throughout the course counselling (subject selection) process.

Parent/caregivers can also support students by discussing subject selections, encouraging through exploration of the Curriculum Guide, seeking advice if needed, and engaging with providers at the Career Expo on Wednesday 19 August (11.30am – 4pm).

The annual Careers Expo, held on-site in the school stadium, is an excellent opportunity for students and families to meet prospective employers and explore post-school study options such as tertiary education (university, TAFE etc), apprenticeship/traineeship options, and other pathways such as defence and policing.

Students will need to ensure their subject selections have been submitted via the Web Preferences Portal (see step-by-step guide for guidance) by Friday 28 August.
