We will remember them: ANZAC Day 2026
29 April 2026

Student Representative Council (SRC) members Elisha, Scarlett and Lily proudly represented Nuriootpa High School, accompanied by SRC managing teacher Mrs Cooke, at the Nuriootpa RSL 2026 ANZAC Day dawn memorial service.

Before dawn Mrs Cooke and the students joined the procession that travelled up Murray Street to the Nuriootpa RSL where the service was held. During the service the students, including Scarlett who wore military service medals from both maternal and paternal sides of her family, lay a wreath at the Nuriootpa war memorial in commemoration of those who have, and continue to serve in the armed forces.

A whole school service, coordinated by HASS teacher Mrs Bey and lead by SRC, was then held on the first day of Term 2, Monday 27 April. Students reflected on the significance of ANZAC Day, and remembered past students of Nuriootpa High School who were killed during the service in World War I, including Dudley Armstrong, Lincoln Dadds, Donald Farmer, Gordon Heidrich, Carl Kreig, Lindsay Odgers, Ronald Pettman, Stanley Scholz, Lauri Sheard, Bernard Wisniewski and Scott Smith.

SRC President, Madi recited the Ode of Remembrance while Scarlett and Ollie, a current Air Force cadet, laid the wreath. The Last Post was performed by music teacher, Mr Tilley, followed by Reveille, after the one minute of silence, to conclude the service.
