NHS Youth Council members appointed ahead of first national Entrepreneurial Schools session
24 March 2026

Our newly appointed Entrepreneurial Schools 2026-27 Youth Council had the opportunity to meet for the first time as a group last Friday. Supported by NHS principal, Mr David Marino, the group also met with key Entrepreneurial Schools personnel via video conference call to discuss their roles and the expectations for the two-year program.

“It was a positive meeting – our students did a great job and displayed great enthusiasm,” reflected Mr Marino.

Following a competitive application process in which Youth Council hopefuls from across Years 9 and 10 at Nuriootpa High School were required to submit a nomination detailing their motivations and strengths in relation to their preferred Youth Council role. As a result, the following six students have been successfully appointed to represent Nuriootpa High School:

  • Leo K – Youth Council captain
  • Annabelle P – Project and planning coordinator
  • Fynnan K – Connections coordinator
  • Mai H – Innovations and ideas coordinator
  • Grace S – Communications coordinator
  • Lorelei H – Impact and insights analyst

The appointed Nuriootpa High School Youth Council members, coordinated by NHS Entrepreneurial Learning coach Ms Caroline Bey, will be part of a 120-strong national Youth Council. Led by South Australian young entrepreneur and small business owner, Thea Economos the national Youth Council will meet virtually on a quarterly basis to discuss ideas, experiences and challenges, and to learn collaboratively from one another.

Ahead of the first quarterly national meeting this Friday (27 March), Youth Council members have been tasked with identifying challenges and opportunities within their school.
