Nuriootpa High School is one of 19 ‘Music Focus Schools’ and we have 130+ musicians learning an instrument through an instrumental lesson each week. These students also play in various ensembles; rehearse regularly and will perform to a variety of audiences throughout the year. These gigs include assemblies, class assessments, Music Showcase, Arts Showcase and lot of other concerts around our region.
Our classroom music teachers are Noah Tilley and Alison Marton. These music teachers are complemented by a team of Instrumental Music Teachers, who each teach here one day a week and at other primary and secondary schools across the Barossa region and northern suburbs.
Our ensembles, which include Concert Band, Choir, Guitar and Percussion, plan to ‘hit the road’ again in 2026 and tour to Port Lincoln to visit various schools and play concerts. We are looking forward to visiting these schools to not only to showcase the students’ gifts and talents, but to also promote music at those schools. We are also aiming to make the locals be aware that NHS is the place to be if you are into music and want to learn an instrument and to continue to make our school a thriving hub of musical talents!
The annual Combined Barossa Valley Primary Schools Concert Band workshop (“Combo”) will also be on again too in Term 4, which provides our musicians with the opportunity to mentor primary school instrumental music students.
Here’s a great year of music making!
