Students from Meidai High School (Japan) will be visiting Nuriootpa High School in Term 3 for a two-week study experience from 29 July to 12 August. The small group of approximately ten students will undertake English lessons each day at Nuriootpa High School and participate in a range of other lessons such as art, physical education, drama, agriculture, tech studies and more, to gain an insight in life in Australia. A full day excursion and some shorter local excursions are also being planned to broaden their cultural experience while in Australia.
Nuriootpa High School families are invited to nominate to host a student from Meidai High School and NHS students are invited to nominate to be a school buddy.
Approved host families will receive a payment to help cover any expenses which may arise while hosting their student, and host/school buddies will have the opportunity to participate in some of the extra-curricular activities (some costs may apply depending on the excursion).
Host family members (aged 18+) must all have a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) and at least family member must undertake the Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect (RRHAN) course for volunteers. Prior to acceptance as a host family a Home Visit will be conducted by the International Schools Partnership (ISP) teacher.
The experience will be enriching for all involved and is an excellent opportunity for the exchange of cultural traditions and, more importantly, fun!
