Governing council

Nuriootpa High School’s Governing Council is comprised of elected parents, student representatives, the Principal, and staff members who have been elected by their colleagues. Governing Council ensures that the views of all sections of the parent community are considered when setting the school’s direction.

The council usually meets on Mondays at 7.00pm in weeks 3 and 8 of each term.

The council is responsible for:

  • developing and approving local policies
  • reviewing and approving the site budget
  • monitoring and reviewing the site improvement plan
  • overseeing the management of the canteen and uniform shop
  • consulting with the school community to make sure their views are represented.

Members are elected to the Governing Council at a general meeting held in February of each year. Committee members may also nominate to be part of a sub-committee. Interested parents and caregivers can volunteer to sit on a sub-committee without being part of the full Governing Council.

The following committees report to the Governing Council:

  • Finance Committee
  • Assets (grounds/facilities) Committee
