This week Foundation Barossa, thanks to the generosity of the local Barossa community, have donated almost $12,000 in shopping vouchers to ease the pressure of back-to-school costs for multiple Nuriootpa High School families currently experiencing financial difficulty.
Foundation Barossa Chief Executive Officer Annabelle Travaglione presented Nuriootpa High School with 238 $50 vouchers which will be gifted to families in-need to support the purchase of essential school supplies such as stationery, back-packs, clothing, hygiene items and more.
Nuriootpa High School Director of People and Culture, Niki McCarthy, is working in consultation with teachers and wellbeing leaders at the school to ensure the vouchers are distributed to those most in need of support.
“We know that some of our students face really tough circumstances, and we are so thankful for Foundation Barossa’s generosity. Such support makes a huge difference in the development and lives of our young people,” said Ms McCarthy.
Foundation Barossa is also working with Nuriootpa High School to facilitate the distribution of refurbished laptops, sourced from local businesses such as Yalumba, to students in-need. The refurbished laptop program will enable many students, who otherwise wouldn’t, to have ongoing access at both school and home to their own computer to maximise their learning.
Ms McCarthy encourages Nuriootpa High School families who may be experiencing financial hardship to reach out for support, she explains, “It’s what the Barossa is all about: community.”
