VET Course On-site - Automotive Pathways 1 and 2

The Automotive Pathways Program is aimed at people who would like to work in a range of enterprises such as:

  • Automotive Dealerships (eg New & Used car dealer-ships)
  • Automotive service centres (eg as part of a retail organisation)
  • Franchised automotive repair businesses
  • Independent automotive repairers
  • Diesel, Light vehicle, Marine and Motorcycle
  • Various companies related to mining and transport including Local Government authorities

  • The course covers Automotive service and repair of light and heavy vehicles, including aspects of petrol and diesel mechanical fundamentals, small scale engines, electrical and electronic fundamentals, general service ,maintenance, repair and replacement.

    A cost of $165 applies for Stage 1, which covers the additional costs and TAFE certification. Students will be supplied overalls and safety boots. There is an expectation that students organise their own work placement of which at least 1 week will be completed during holiday time.

    Stage 1 (Year 11) competencies will be taught on site in the Automotive Trade Training Centre.

    Stage 2 (Year 12 will be a primarily based at the Barossa Valley TAFE campus.

    Students will be out of formal lessons for the day on which their training is delivered and will need to ensure that they are able to effectively manage their time accordingly.
